High Schools

We work directly with high school counselors to identify students who are capable, deserving and determined. We select students based on academic ability, financial need, specific degree objectives or unusual circumstances. Our program offers a “hand up” rather than a “hand out,” and we look for students who might be unable to access a college education without a little assistance.

The Ellis Foundation directly solicits applications from pre-selected high schools. If we have worked with you in the past two years, but you have not heard from us, please e-mail us.

If you are a counselor from a pre-selected high school:

If Ellis Scholarships were awarded at your high school last year, you will receive a notice from us by January 1. If after that date you haven’t received information, contact us.

If you are a counselor from a high school that is not pre-selected but is located in Kansas or Missouri:

We have degree-specific scholarships for students in Kansas and Missouri. If you have students interested in STEM, Medical, Agriculture, Business, Finance, Financial Planning, Accounting, IT, and Human Resources, please contact us.

If your high school is located in a Evergy service area, and you have students interested in Accounting, Engineering, Human Resources, Energy or Power trades, contact us.

If your high school doesn’t fall into any of the above categories:

The Ellis Foundation works with pre-selected high schools in which there is initial funding support. If your community or high school is interested in becoming an Ellis partnering high school, contact us. We will be glad to work with local individuals, families, corporations, or organization to help initiate a scholarship program for your community.

If you are a high school senior, contact your high school counselor.
