About the Ellis Foundation
At the Ellis Foundation, we provide a way for private and corporate donors to make a positive financial impact on the lives of scholarship recipients by giving those with limited resources access to higher education.
More than that, we offer in-depth guidance and exceptional support to each and every student to ensure they have a successful college career and a bright future full of possibility. This includes a mentoring program, regular face-to-face and online contact sessions, and connecting students with others who work in their chosen field.
The result of having someone champion each student and providing valuable advice and support is a graduation rate of almost twice the national average. We give students a hand up rather than a handout.

As a Plastics Engineering and Polymer Chemistry major at Pittsburg State University, Lexington keeps a rigorous course load and a great GPA. She recently completed a research experience for undergraduates at the University of Maine on bio-renewable polymeric materials and presented the findings at a university in Chile.

Missouri Southern student, Michael, takes each role seriously, whether it’s in the classroom, as a mentor, or on the stage. Michael’s latest role is a paid acting position with the Missouri Shakespeare Festival in the production of “As You Like It.”

We have been fortunate to stay with McKenzie as she pursues a doctorate in dental medicine degree. In addition to her studies, McKenzie manages to regularly give back, volunteering with student organizations that provide free dental screenings for children in the Kansas City area.

He’s an Ellis Scholar, Fort Scott Community College student of the year, and an outstanding member of our program. Ty competed with the Scholar Bowl at FSCC, and served as the student employee for the Gordan Parks Museum, taking on the task of digitizing VHS content for the museum to make it more readily accessible to the public.
